Girlie Stuff

I am playing with all my new makeup so I will be posting simple face shots of me with different makeup looks. Bare with me....lol.  I am experimenting with different foundations and concealers and colors so anyone who cares to read my "training log" will also get the girlie stuff too...but that is nothing new, right? (Too lazy to do another girlie blog)
I have different highlights in my hair which I am digging. The highlights are much softer than I have done in the past...less red.

My Foundation is MAC Face and Body (very liquid)
My concealer is MAC Pro Long wear
New MAC Lipstick Palette
Becca Matte Face Primer
MAC Blush color Passionately Tempted
Eve Pearl Foundation..(I use the dark side to lightly contour)
Mascara Tarte Camera Lashes with Tartes Eyelash
Bare Minerals Eyeliner in Midnight

New Stuff  I got today in mail

I ordered 3 magnetized palettes to hold my new eye shadow pans. They are awesome and only cost $10 a piece. A STEAL!! I put my new eye shadows from Makeup Geek's store and I added my MAC blush to that palette. I have room for 3-4 more shadows in that palette.

In the other palette, I put my new Inglot face powder and blush in it that I got while I was in Florida. I plan to add 4 new Inglot shadows to that palette and I have a 3rd palette for some new stuff :)

PURE JOY!!!!!

Am I Ugly?

Am I ugly?? Now be for real...I am not asking that question for myself. I know I am NOT ugly....so the question is not about me at all,  it is all about this website that I came across.

There is this site that you can post a picture of yourself and have people rate your ugliness factor.  Most of the people that posted pictures are young in their twenties. Out of sheer curiosity I started clicking away and looking at the pictures that were posted and I did form some opinions of my own, but not about their ugliness or lack thereof, but what would prompt a person to post pictures on the internet to be judged by the www?

I was pleasantly surprise that many of the comments were on the nice side...even if the person was quite average or on the less attractive end of the spectrum.  I was surprised as well by the pictures that many of these kids decided to post. It appeared that there were some kids that posted the most unattractive pictures that they could have taken? What's up with that? Then there were the very cute girls that posted pictures, and I had to ask myself...what the heck?  In my humble opinion, I see that as attention seeking behavior.

The website that I am referring to is Here. Now one of the attractive girls that posted on this site is here. Hmmm... your thoughts?

But before I continue to judge, a few years back I posted a picture of myself on Lyle McDonald's site on a thread that ask people's opinion of BF analysis by looking at the pictures. Now, when I posted those pictures, I was pretty lean so I had no problem posting my picture for BF analysis by fellow forum members. BUT....would I post a picture of myself today at the current weight? My answer is HELL NO!!! Now, don't get me wrong, I am not fat...but I am not lean either. So why in the heck did I put myself out there to be judged a few years back? I can tell you why...part of me really wanted to know what my BF appeared to be to other people (25% of me wanted to know that). The other 75% of me wanted to proudly display my hard work (attention seeking??? perhaps...lol). BTW....here is Lyle's thread. I find it interesting and I like to JUDGE people myself (silently). The thread is here. So I have to ask myself as I judge the girl above "Is that the pot calling the kettle black?" Heck yeah it is....lol.

Then I was reading a post by one of my forum buddies on bodybuildingrevealed.com where he mentioned about all the hefty women in Michigan sporting two piece bikinis. I whole heartedly agreed with him. I am appalled at times by what some people wear at the pool....women and men. I HATE to see beer belly men walking around like they look good or something...their trunks hanging below their belly. Wear a towel around that belly please!!! Or the amount of men walking around shirtless with man boobs as big as mine....are you kidding me? I see this WAY more than fat women walking around in bikinis. What's up with that???

But I must admit, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I know some men that really like hefty women. They love it. I have a friend that is short and obese. She is beautiful, nonetheless, and she has her fair share of admirers...that's for sure. I found an interesting video  about a woman who lost 100 pounds and went to the pool in her bikini and was told to leave. Now, this lady looked quite average and not huge at all.  Really?? This video is here. Yeah...maybe her boobs were a bit too big for the bikini, but I see this all the time.

So folks....that was my attempt to make today's blog interesting. I have been posting boring stuff lately.

One more thing before we discuss training and nutrition stuff.... I LOVE peanut butter. Have you ever tried making a peanut butter sandwich with a serving size? Are you kidding me? I had a peanut butter sandwich today that set me back 540 calories and all that was was 2 servings and 2 pieces of bread. Now one serving of PB won't even cover one slice of bread. Agh!!! But the sandwich was so good, so now I have to cut calories somewhere else today.

Training is simply Day 2 of upper body. Nothing much to write home about. I may do some cardio as well today. I will let you know in my next blog.

Nutrition....keeping things between 1400-1600 calories. Guess I will be having chicken breast and green beans for supper tonite. Blah!!!!!

Back at it.....

Excitement awaits as my daughter puts on the surprise shoes I bought for her while I was in Florida. My daughter is a Van's shoe girl and I found the cutest pair of Van's at the mall in Florida. She loves them! Giving makes me happier than getting gifts.

So, it was so nice to train at the gym at home!! It was packed today in our gym. I think there were 7 of us in there at the same time....lol. I did my standard day1 Lower body routine. I did add an extra ab exercise in the workout.

Training was good. I felt good but my strength was not as high as usual. I still need to catch up on some rest.

Nutrition on task today. I need to be on task. According to my friendly scale, I am UP 4.5 pounds from the vacation. Pooh!!! I enjoyed my vacation, but I did not think I went hog wild on the food. But I did enjoy my share of mix drinks and those calories add up fast.

No regrets, I had a great time in Florida.

Boring blog today.... I will try to make it more interesting tomorrow :)

Homeward Bound

I am typing this blog in the passenger seat of my husband's car. We have been on the road 8 hours and we have another 8-9 hours to go. I am glad to be heading home to a normal routine again. I enjoyed my Florida vacation, but there is no place like home.

I have another week off from work...so I am still in vacation mode, but won't be lounging around. I have a ton of stuff to do around the house.

Well I got 2 days of training in this past week. Not bad for being on vacation. I will get back to the grind starting Monday.

I was checking out my new lipstick that I purchased at MAC. It is quite bright and I love it. I take so many cheesy pictures with the hair perfect and the big smile....so I decided to do a crazy picture. I never really did my hair fancy or wore much makeup during my entire vacation...but I bought a lot of makeup for my usual photos.

Nutrition wise....let's just say, I enjoyed my vacation, but I did not go hog wild overboard. I may have gained a few pounds....maybe not. We will see. I AM super bloated from all the off diet eating.

It has been nice being able to blog daily.

The body....

My motivation for the day....

Ok...yesterday or a few posts back...I forget....I mentioned that I could be motivated by old pictures of myself. Well, I am taking that back. This is a smoking hot physique that I desire to have some day (minus the tattoos). Wow.

I don't have anything more to add today

Two Sisters....

My September 12, 2013 Goal

135 pounds 18% Body Fat

I woke up this morning all nice and bubbly. I talked my sis into letting me do her makeup and she loved it...of course. After that we went to the pool to get some rays. As you can see above, sis and I got a nice tan after a couple of hours IN THE SHADE...lol. Well, actually we spent about 25 minutes in the water and that is where we got our tans. We are not trying to show off our boobies, we are trying to show off  our tan.

Funny thing happened this morning....I was SO SHY about  putting my bathing suit on. I made sure to have my big hat and shades and a full wrap around to cover me from the belly down. Sis and I walked to the pool and I felt very self conscious walking on the grounds in my bathing suit...even covered up by the wrap. Hubby joined us as well...he REALLY NEEDED THE SUN!!!.

See video below for more pictures

Video

Well when we got to the pool, I looked around at all the people there. Moms with their kids, beer belly dads, a few teenagers and young kids and all of a sudden I felt skinny...lol. No hot bikini babes at this pool area, so off went the wrap and I sported my two piece with no problem. Now my nieces are beautiful ladies with perfect bodies. They were there before us. Kandace with her fire engine red hair and tattoos and Kerri Lynn with her beautiful petite body with a waist smaller than my thigh, were there and their presence commanded attention. So, with them around, sis and I had no need to feel self-conscious in our bathing suits  cuz nobody paid attention to 2 middle aged women in the presence of two twenty something bombshells :)

So sis and I played in the outside spa like 2 teenage kids having the time of our life. Hubby sunbathed in his chair with his eyes closed the entire time.

Hubby started getting more red than is healthy, so after  about 2 hours I thought it prudent to get him out of the sun so we went back to the room.

Steps I took today to
I am planning to train lower body tonite. We will see

Challenges of the day
No challenges. Just enjoying the good life.

Update... shortly after returning to the room I got a really bad headache. I thought it was because I did not have much to eat, but then I ate and the headache continued and I became very nauseated and continue to feel sick.

Too much fun in the sun. Hope I feel better soon.

No Training Today

My September 12, 2013 Goal
135 pounds 18% Body Fat
I was 135 pounds in the above picture and that is the body I want to have in the near future. I don't need to look at a model in a magazine or a fitness girl to visualize what I want to look like. I can just pull out the old pictures of me as a goal to attain. But, I find it hard to sustain the burning desire to make quick changes in my physique...so my progress is SLOW. But slow is progress, so I will take that and enjoy life on the way.

Steps I took today to get closer to my goal
None :)
Me and my sister

Challenges of the day
1. Trying not to feel guilty for not training and eating and drinking what I want
2. Trying to justify why we upgraded our time share....

Motivational sources for the day

My training consisted of shopping :)

My September 12, 2013 Goal
135 pounds 18% Body Fat

I woke up this morning and guess what....no puffy eyes! I put my hand on my belly, and NO BLOAT even after my 11pm off plan eating ordeal. I will confess about that later in this blog. So yay...the reflection in the mirror this morning is OK...so I better take advantage of this. No morning workout. I will put my makeup on a plan the day.

Hubby will take me to a Pro MAC store....that is a makeup store. I have always wanted to go to a free standing MAC store, but there are none in my area so I googled MAC Orlando, Florida, and I got a hit!!! Woohoo....poor hubby spending a couple hours in the MAC store with me. He is so good to me. So now it is time for me to shower and get ready to go SHOPPING!!!!!!

Ok, back from shopping and I am on cloud 9! We went the The Mall at Millenia to the MAC Pro store!!!!  Pure JOY! Hubby left me in my bliss for a little over an hour. I had my own MAC lady filling my bag with goodies that I liked.

I did quite good keeping my spending at a minimum. I walked out of that store with only 7 items costing around $180 bucks. I did not even have to use the card. My hubby had the cash, so I had to wait for him to come back to meet me at the store. I asked him for some money and he said, you have money, use the money I gave you. I only had $100 dollars. So he begrudgingly gave me $200 dollars. Dang, if he only knew how much money I spend on makeup...lol.

I got several products that I wanted for a long time, but when I go to order them they are all sold out. I am stoked!!

Steps I took today to get closer to my goal
1. Breakfast was simply 1 bowl of honey nut cheerios and 2 eggs

2. For lunch we had burrito bowls at Chipoltle consisting of brown rice, pinto beans, tomatoes, lettuce, chicken, sour cream and guacamole. The only thing not great in that meal was the sour cream

3. For dinner I had 2 pieces of thin crust medium slice pizza from pizza hut and a Michelob Ultra beer.

Challenges of the day
I did have 2 fun size bags of M&M's...I did not want to have any candy today, but at least I kept it at a minimum.

Last night I was very hungry and I ended up making 2 soft shelled tacos and had a couple fun size candy bars. Grrr....

Motivational sources for the day
I read several journals on bodybuildingrevealed.com, bodyrecomposition.com, and fitday.com. These are the sites that I visit on a daily basis along with a few others such as Brinkzone.com  and bodybuilding.com.

Training
SHOPPING!! I wanted to keep going, but my hubby started complaining that his feet hurt. So, I did not want to prolong his agony following me all around from store to store. After all he did this for me. He hates shopping!

Primping and Pampering

My September 12, 2013 Goal
135 pounds 18% Body Fat
Why is it that whenever I travel and stay in a hotel, when I wake up my eyes are puffy and I look like shit? It happens all the time, and of course I am surrounded by mirrors at every angle. Mirrors everywhere!! Agh!!!

My sis made breakfast burritos with sausage, green peppers, cheese, eggs, and other stuff. She had bought a bunch of bananas a few days ago that are starting to get brown, so that was a required part of breakfast for everybody lol.

Instead of breakfast burritos, I ate the eggs, a banana, and about a cup of mixed fresh fruit (grapes, strawberries, and pineapple).

Around 10 am hubby and I went to the little fitness center and it was way too crowded. That is a good thing...more people are interested in fitness...but too crowded to train, so we left and went to the bank to get some needed cash and Target to get a new wallet for my husband. His current wallet is in bad shape. I also picked up some socks that I needed. I only packed one pair....duh Annette.

So, 11:30 we went back to the fitness area and it was LESS crowded so we decided to give it a go. I did Day 2 of my training.

Ate a roast beef sandwich for lunch and had a Michelob Ultra beer. Then I decided to pamper myself while my sis and her family went to the theme parks. I had my fill of the theme parks over the years, so we typically don't go anymore.

I painted my toe nails, dyed the gray roots of my hair, placed an awesome glycolic mask on my face and  took the 2 hours needed to straighten my hair. It is raining, so no sitting out by the pool at this time. Maybe later.

Later in the day, I ate a couple of servings of dry honey nut cheerios, 6 oreo cookies, and a couple of fun size candy bars. That will be the extent of my junk food for the day. My goal is to keep my calories between 1500-1700 calories and I ate a number of calories in junk food, so no drinks for me tonite.

Steps I took today to get closer to my goal

Florida!!

My September 12, 2013 Goal
135 pounds 18% Body Fat
Yesterday, my husband and I drove the 18 hours or so to our timeshare in Florida. We are on vacation with my sister and her 4 adult kids. We are using 2 of our units and we are going to have a blast. Since Bob and I have provided the accommodations for my sis and her family, my sister insists that she will do all the cooking and supply all the alcohol for our vacation. So with that said, the food that I will be eating will not be all clean, but what I hope to do is simply eat less of it.
That was breakfast and boy was it yummy! My sis made banana walnut pancakes with mix from Cracker Barrel. She had bacon, sausage, and I supplied the mixed berries. So instead of having 3 pancakes sausage and bacon...which is my usual, I settled for 1 pancake, 1 slice of bacon, and a little fruit. Then an hour later, we went to the fitness center which is small but functional enough to get Day 1 of my training out of the way. My sister and hubby trained as well. Later tonite we will go for a brisk walk around the grounds.

My goal for this vacation is not to gain a bit of weight while enjoying myself and eating what I want but in smaller quantities and upping my cardio to offset the less than clean food options. I will post what I am eating in my blog to help me stay accountable.

For lunch, I split a fast food Chinese meal with my hubby and for dinner I had two ham salad sandwiches instead of tacos that my sis is making for everybody.

Now I must confess, I am enjoying a bit of alcohol....hehehe

My hubby drank most of the first bottle. I just had 1 drink. Oh yeah, I had a baby Ruth candy bar too.

So lets add the damage up. I figuring between 1500-1700 calories and ai burned a couple hundred at the gym so I did ok today.

Steps I took today to get closer to my goal
I trained today. I ate small portions of what I wanted. I kept my calories below 2000

Challenges of the day
I wanted to eat bigger portions of everything, but I was good. Not spending tons of money at the outlet malls.

Motivational sources for the day
I did not read or listen to any motivational material. Maybe I will read something later

Training
I did Day 1 of training at a high intensity level. We did not go for our walk because we walked 2.5 hours at the outlet mall.

Shopping today
I kept the spending at a minimum. I bought some food, beer, and liqueur and then I spent just a little bit on myself. I bought a big hat to block the sun while I am at the poolside sipping my alcohol. I also bought some new sun glasses and a big wrap around to half way cover my body since I am kinda shy walking around in a 2 piece bathing suit.

Also found a BEAUTIFUL blush to add to may makeup collection and an awesome bling bling eyeshadow. So, tomorrow, I will head to the poolside to simply relax and drink. I am not getting into the water because I don't want all that sun. I tan easily and I don't want to have to purchase darker foundation...that gets expensive...since I prefer the high end makeup products.

My new stuff

I can't wait to put on my new blush and eyeshadow. I will probably be the only person at the pool all dolled up in my makeup...lol.

Life is good.

I won't let this storm stop my training!!!

Earlier today the tornado sirens alarmed in the city of Fostoria. I was in Michigan during the bad weather, but I sat nervously watching the weather channel knowing that my husband, son, and daughter were in the middle of this storm. The storm headed north towards Toledo and the sirens alarmed in Toledo where my mother, daughter, son-in-law, and Grandkids live. My daughter was at work and my son-in-law and Grandkids were at their home. Thank God, everyone was okay. The storm never hit Michigan. On my way home, tree branches were scattered everywhere. I took this picture as I headed to my house a few streets away.

The weather messed up my training plans. Since the Y closes at 8pm, I could not train unless I went out of town to train and I just did not want to do that....so I decided to do my stadium training. I asked my son if he would be willing to video tape me do my training and of course he said yes to his mom.

So we headed to the stadium and the track was relatively dry and the stadium steps were slightly wet, so no problem. I could train.

I typically do a brief warm-up. I may do 4 sets of sprints and then I do the stairs. I run up the stairs and then around the track which is a quarter mile around and I do this rotation 6 times....so a mile and a half and up and down the stairs 6 times. Depending on how I feel, sometimes I will sprint up the steps, and other times I may jog up the steps.

Below is a video of my routine....edited of course. I am geeky, so you know I had to add my motivating Rocky music to make my video cool...lol. So for those who may be interested, the video below shows my stadium fun/training.

Your Mind is Your Most Powerful Weapon

It has been a minute since I have been on here, so I need to catch up on my past 2 training logs. I have been busy at work and at home and so blogging has been a challenge but I know that logging my training, logging my food intake, taking weekly progress pictures, and reporting in to my coach every week keeps me on task. I must admit, last week my food intake was way over what it should have been. I took in an average of 2200 calories a day (of unclean food at times)...well over my goal of 1500-1600 calories. My training and the additional cardio prevented any weight gain on the scale, but the numbers certainly did not go down.  I have this new rule at work...no elevator...ever. Also I do 9 floors of stairs twice during the day, and any additional flights of stairs are a bonus. For instance, today I was making my rounds and had just visited all the nursing units on the first floor. Then I decided to take the stairs all the way to the 8th floor to round on the units there and then work my way down. As soon as I walked through the door on the 8th floor my phone rang and it was the surgery unit on the first floor that I JUST LEFT!!!! Poor Darryl...the nurse who called me for help asked if I could come back down and help a physician enter some orders. I told him "I just left and just got to the 8th floor to make rounds!! Then I told him, I will be right down. When I got there, I sat and helped the doctor with the computer and then I went over to Darryl and gave him a hug and explained why I kinda snapped when he called. We laughed and then I made the announcement to the entire nursing staff in hearing distance that I am going to the 8th floor (taking the stairs...again) so.... give me a break with the phone if possible. So up I went and I started rounding. I bet in a day I do at least 60 flights of stairs or so. I have been doing that for a few weeks and my bum is looking better.

Think and Grow Rich

Audio material
Think and Grow Rich You Tube video- I am really focussing on his Master Key Principles. I posted a link of the youtube video in one of my blogs last week. Some pearls of wisdom that reached out to me...

"What ever the mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve."

"Success is the knowledge to get whatever you want from life without violating the rights of others and by helping others acquire it."

"The line of demarcation between success and failure is so slight that it is often hard to tell where one ends and the other begins."

Today I was in a kind of poopy mood and whenever I get like that I put on some motivating music or gospel music or I put in a good motivating youtube video. Today I watched two of my favorite guys in bodybuilding....Arnold S. and Kai Green.

I love Arnold, because he knows what it takes to be a champion and he has an incredible will to achieve his desires. He has a great mindset...even though he did cheat on his wife....DOG. But I still admire his drive.

Here's the link to his video titled Still Pumping
Still Pumping

And I super love Kai Green because he is just an amazing body builder, amazing entertainer, articulate, and the nicest guy in the world. I had the chance to meet him a couple of years at the Olympia...a meet and greet type event where I spoke with him for a brief moment and took a picture with him. The following night, he competed in the Mr. Olympia show and a couple hours after the show a friend and I were at a Mr. Olympia after party dinner and he saw me and got his food and sat down at our table and we had the chance to talk. Great humble, hardworking, MASSIVE guy. I am one of his biggest fans...and was a big fan even prior to meeting him.

Independence Day!!!

  • Martin Luther King Jr.
So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of California!
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of Mississippi.
From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
  • I am so thankful for the freedom that I have and for every man and woman that died so that I can enjoy and live free
  • I spent my day relaxing and doing nothing....napping on and off
  • The gym was closed and it rained making the stadium steps slippery, so instead of running the stairs, I walked up and down as part of my stadium routine for 45 minutes
  • Great lazy day :)

Brilliant brunette here......

My husband frequently calls me a blond underneath my brunette hair because.....

It is not that I am dumb....it just takes me a minute to process jokes or even insults. I am ALWAYS the last one to laugh at a joke because I have to process it in my mind first and then it clicks...lol.

But ANYONE who knows me personally knows that I am not dumb or slow at all...hehehe. Life is good when we can laugh at ourselves and not take things so seriously. My thought is this, I am so BRILLIANT that my mind cannot process such simple things as jokes and insults...lol!!! Yeah, that's it!!

My workout was less than stellar today....
I started the morning with the stairway to heaven never ending revolving stair master machine.  People stop and want to talk to me about that monster machine WHILE I AM ON IT HUFFING AND PUFFING. I want to get a tee that says DON'T TALK TO ME WHILE I AM HUFFING, PUFFING, or SWEATING HARD!! So that was this morning before work.

Then after work I rushed to the gym after just eating some food that...well what can I say....did not fit the the definition of clean eating. My nutrition has been a challenge....not meeting my clean eating goals at all so far this week. I digress...I hit the gym and started training. I was nauseated throughout the entire workout and I struggled today.

So, lets talk my current reading material "Think and Grow Rich"
I like this quote...well maybe not the exact quote....I am quoting it from memory, which is not good..lol

What your mind conceives and believe, your mind can achieve....something like that.

So perhaps I should have visualized myself having the workout of my life...and believed that I could actually press 90 pounds for 10 reps...

NO, this is what Annette thought as I walked in the weight room "I am going to puke that McDonalds chicken club sandwich all over the place" and guess what...I was nauseated the entire workout...but on a good note, I did not puke. Then when it came down to doing my chest presses, the weight felt heavier than usual and my thought was, crap....I am feeling weak...and guess what, I was weaker than crap.

Hehehe......

So, a few days ago, I said thoughts are things.... Today I will add thatnthoughts are power. What kind of thoughts will you choose to have? You have control of your thoughts and attitude. Don't be like me, and choose the negative thoughts. Choose positive ones.

So starting now, I am back to thinking positive thoughts :)

Think and Grow Thin....

For the 3rd time I am reading Napoleaon Hill's book "Think and Grow Rich".  Thousands of people have read this book filled with pearls of knowledge and wisdom. I am reading a chapter at a time, pondering the concepts in each chapter and applying the success principle identified in each chapter towards my fitness and nutrition goals. Good stuff!! Below is a link to a video of Napoleon Hill discussing his book.

I woke up yesterday and today and threw some gym clothes on and headed to the Y to work on the demon stair master machine. The machine looks intimidating and so I was eager to give it my attention because I love a challenge. That stair master machine sits all alone, lonely and unused until I came along...lol. I am slowly getting my body used to the constant climbing of the never ending stairs. I am only doing it 20 minutes at a manual level of 6 out of 20 levels. Slow and steady...but I am moving and my goal is to increase the amount of steps each time I  get on the beast. Stairs do wonders for the butt....and I am all about the glutes, so I am up for the challenge.

Training
Today was one of those days that I had to make myself go to the gym after work. It is true that 50% of the struggle of the gym is just showing up. I did not even feel like doing squats and lunges after working all day and going up and down stairs a million times at work (I am not using the elevators).

Squats (no problem....I need to up the weights even more than I thought)
90 x 10
100 x 10
105 x 10

Seated Leg Curls....these were challenging for me today (I think it's because I am fatigued from climbing up and down stairs all day...and today I did a lot of stairs at work...as well as demon stair master machine at the Y.
